Hi, I want to create some images for the web and I have a couple of Photoshop 101 questions. Mostly concerning how to get the images to load faster. 1. How can I save an image as a gif? When I create an image in PS and then go to save it, a gif format isn't one of the options. I'm given the option to save it as a jpeg, pict, raw, scitex, ps pdf, tiff etc. , but no gif. Am I missing something? 2. I want to decrease the loading time of a fairly big graphic I want to put on a web page, and someone mentioned I should slice it up. I'm using ps 5.0 and I don't have the little x-acto knife on my tool bar. Is there another way I can cut my image up? I know these are probably obvious questions, but I'm at a loss. Thanks alot for any help you can give me. |

to get a gif you must goto Save for Web, then when the new screen comes up you have to do the pull down box and goto gif, then save it... and if you want to lessen the load time just save as jpeg or gif and bring down the resolution which is in the save for web screen.

You need to flatten your image then set the color mode to Indexe (Image->Mode->Indexed Color or something along those lines.) |

Thanks. I'll give these a try. Although I don't recall ever seeing a save for web feature in my menu. Maybe that's just on versions 5.5 and later.
