Hi, I've Ps 7. I clicked on filter and then I clicked on the sharpen but I'm kind of confused about the sharpen. Whic sharpen tool do you use to sharp before printing the picture out? and then I marked the ruler from the view but I see the extra on so turned it off but every time I would see the extra is on. How do I turn the extra off forever? Thanks, |

You should be using Unsharp mask. Pending on your desired resolution, there are certain amounts that the amounts should be set too. First set your Radius. That setting is Resolution divided by 200. Your amount is a visual thing, but should start at around 200%, either going up or down. Threshold is where your tonal steps are effected. A recomended setting is 3 or 4. Anything above 10 is bad, unless its the effect you are looking for.

I have already stated this in another thread so sorry for the repetition, instead of unsharp mask, try using the high pass filter on a duplicate of the image at around 50-60 (pretty subjective) then changing the layer blend mode to soft light, by increasing/decreasing the opacity of the layer you can control the degree of sharpening.
