As small as they are you could just draw them pixel by pixel. I'm not saying that is how those were done but rather thats prolly how I would do it.

Pixel by pixel is the only way to achieve that effect. I'm sure there are cheaty ways to do it, like reducing a larger image size, but it won't be sharp. It will just look like rubbish. So get a coke or something, sit down at the computer, whip out the pencil tool, and be prepared to sit there for quite a few hours. It's really worth it though. You have a great sense of accomplishment after spending that much time and going into that much detail. Especially if you animate it too. But a few tips, if you are doing something like a building that is going to be more or less symetrical, just do one floor, then duplicate it and make the other floors. That saves some time. Other than that, get really familiar with the pencil tool and using as few colors as you can. (to reduce gif size) Good luck |

Try finding Microangelo Studio. Its a font making utility, but you can edit things pixel x pixel with it. Its a little frustrating, but hey, if you wanna be trendy, you gotta pay the price.

There is no easy way to tell you how to do it. Just save a couple of files you've seen of other people's pixel stuff, then open them in Photoshop and zoom in on them so you can see how they do it. Basically I just zoom in, edit a few pixels, then zoom out, to see how it looks. Go to http://www.flipflopflyin.com and look at the gallery section where hundreds of people have submitted little pixel people, that should give you some idea. Also try http://www.eboy.com, and http://www.quickhoney.com.
