Noobie question :-\ (memory refresh)

Hi, I need to refresh my memory. I used to know how to make stuff like this and then for some reason, it left me. I understand its mostly just lighting effects and photo minipulation with different blending modes. But what blending modes does it look like they used and what tools do you think they used. Thanks

seems like a lot of overlaying and color dodging, some deleting with featured brushes, thats about it... its all in the changing the layer... just go through all the blending modes some work better than others in some cases....
