Hi Guys, im trying to make a logo for a site called dizzyhost.com , i want a ring around the word dizzy, this is kinda hard to explain i want it so that the text is kinda inside the ring or a logo befor the word dizzy where one ring is horizontal and one verticle, ive seen the kind of thing when people draw diagrams of the planets and stuff.

If anyone could tell me how to do this i would be very grateful

What you are wanting to do is "text on a path".

Adobe does not have this feature in photoshop natively. Adobe keeps this functionality soley in Adobe Illustrator.

You can fake the look (sorta) in Photoshop by using the technique I've linked below.

You also could use the "arc" text warping feature in Photoshop, but it won't exactly do everything you are wanting. After typing something, click on the "T" symbol icon on top of the screen that has a curved arrow underneath it. Its probably the closest thing to what you are wanting to do that's actually in PS.

Corel Draw and a couple of other programs do text on a path as well, but Photoshop doesn't exactly do it, unfortunately.

Create the ring first, then create the text layer. Rasterize the text layer (Right Click the text layer -> Rasterize). Delete the portion of the the text that would be covered by the ring and then you'd achieve the desired effect.

If your still having problems with your ring effect you could always try and do it in illustrator and then export it into photoshop by using the

File Export

in the popup window that opens look for the

Type drop down menu and choose photoshop 5 (*psd) and save

when you save another popup window will open make sure that you have RVB if it's for the web or CMYN for pre-press, also click the box where it's marked write layers this will keep all of the layers when you export to photoshop.

hope this is of some help if not good luck

mick
