Image->Image Size. Change resolution to 72, then change the width and height to what it was. |

Contrary to popular belief (ummm, that would be that portion of the population that uses Windows and who take their advise from hamfisted tech-head pretenders...no offense meant, Alpha2Cookie...REALLY!) REINTSTALL is NOT the be-all, end-all answer to most problems. There are simpler, quicker, less damaging and trouble-prone solutions to try before you throw the baby out with the bath water. Some more info, and some explanation about why you might be having a problem: First, have a look at your units of measurement by Control-Clicking (Right-click on PC) a ruler (Command-R/CTRL-R if they're not visible) to see what unit you're working in. You'll get a drop down menu with choices of Pixels, Inhces, Centimeters, Points, Picas & Percent. When you create a new document, you're probably used to working in inches, and that likely got changed to something else. Fix it to your liking. If that doesn't do it, go to Edit---»Preferences---»Units & Rulers... My guess is that the unit of measurement set for your type is something other than Points...probably millimeters. For example, type that is originally 12 POINTS works out to 4.23 mm. Consequently 10 mm text would be larger than you would expect than if it was set in points. If that all doesn't work, or you can't figure it all out go check out THIS ARTICLE that will show you how to reset Photoshop's preferences. This should return Photoshop's settings back to where they were when you first installed it. If all that fails, ONLY THEN should you consider reinstalling. |

Just so you know... D.P.I. (Dots/Inch) is a term that is used when taking about printing. When you're talking about any image that is living only in the digital realm (Scanner, DigiCam, Monitor, Photoshop) you need to refer to image size in P.P.I. (Pixels Per Inch). It's an often confusing, but very important distinction that must be made. When speaking with someone else about image resolutions, you need to be on equal terms regarding units of measurement. P.P.I. vs. D.P.I. vs. L.P.I. vs. Samples Per Inch? Gadzooks! What does it all mean? Read on... The most glaring example of what happens when people neglect to get their units of measurement straight is the one that caused the Mars Explorer and Polar Orbiter to crash into the planet. Someone entered values in English measurement when he should have been working in metric. DOH! |
