Hey all - Loooooong time reader - first time poster. Here is my challenge - I need to make nice, wispy smoke that spells out text. Imagine a campfire, with smoke rising into the sky and spelling put a message. This one just has me plain stumped. I think it's impossible! _and it's burning me up! HA! I'm so punny Anyhow - I am using PS 5.0 - no kpt this or that - sorry - it's all I have. Anyone here know how to tackle this one? Thanks so very much. -Hyper- |

Perhaps something like this: Write the text with a fancy font. Render/Rasterize the text layer - then some Filter>Distort>Wave. Some heavy use of the smudge tool. A little blur perhaps... |

I'll to try to help. ok here we go. Try that fancy text like pixel man said, then try to distort it going up or to the sky use liquify or try whats in your mind. make some blur use guassian blur [did i spell this correctly?] for a smoke effect. now use i drop tool to copy the color of smoke into your text... did i solve it... where not finish yet try erase tool set 30% or the one in your mind, erase those u think that must fade [use big range for this eraser]. hope this solve ur proplem. |

Question; I know a lot of Internet shortcuts like IMHO, ROTFLMAO, OT, NT etc etc, but who thought about the idea to come up with nOOb. Excuse me, but what is the meaning of this one??

one way i know to make the smoke is to use Render>Clouds once you have the clouds go to Stylize>glowing edges play around with the settings and you should get a pretty smokey background. As for the text, i can't help you there. |
