Hi everyone, I'm New to the forum and new to photoshop. I have created a full webpage in photoshop in rgb mode. I have some slices that I want to save manually as gifs with transparent bg. I have set the optimisations and the mat colour to match my table colour but when I go to save it will only allow me to save as jpg or jpg and html. There are other documents I can use and the gif option is present. There are no channels in the file just layers, images, and text. Has anyone any ideas what else in the file may stop me saving as gif. I hope not to have to start again. Many thanks, and I hope to be able to help someone else one day! Andy  |

oi, when you use the Save for Web feature with slices, you're most likely going to need to select all the slices (with the Slice select tool in that window, should be right under the hand on the left). once you do that, you will need to go to the area on the left where it shows all the options and such. Where it would say "JPEG" or something along those lines, select GIF from that pulldown menu. That should now enable you to save each individiual slice as a GIF.

Hi there, thankyou for the quick reply. I've got over the problem by putting .gif on the end when I save and using the (image only .jpg) setting in the drop down. I still can't work out why gif is not listed as an optional file type when saving selected slice only in image ready. I thought all plugins were installed as default. regards Andy |

I find that weird, in PS7 and 6, even earlier versions, the place where you select formats is here (the trendy arrow is pointing at it ): |
