I can't find a filter anywhere that does this, but I need something that will convert areas of color into simulated rows of beads, as if the picture had been created in a mosaic of 3-d round beads. The closest I've seen is a mosaic filter that doesn't really look like beads, and the stained glass filter that I can't configure (can I?) to modify the sizes and positions of the beads. I'd prefer beads set in rows. Here is my DREAM filter: select the picture (or part I want to convert), the apply the filter. The filter control panel would allow me to adjust the sizes of the beads. Then the finished design might even be fancy enough to have simulated shadows and highlights to REALLY depict a beaded texture. If anyone knows a filter or technique, I'd be thrilled. If anyone out there programs filters, I'd buy this one right away! |

Alien Skin Splat does some of the things you are asking for. Download the demo at http://www.alienskin.com/ Splat is a collection of different filters in one package. The filter you might find interresting is the "Patchwork" filter included in the SPLAT package. It will let you adjust the size of the beads and it actually comes with a bead pattern. The beads have highlights but no shadows. The beads are placed on a black background. Try it out - see if you like it. |

That sounds VERY interesting...The "Lightpeg" filter seems just about perfect! Can you tell me your name so I can name my next child after you? |
