Just recently PS6 has become very slow, with everything taking at least a couple of seconds to load whether its opening a menu or selecting a tool... I know its not my system cos I'm running a 2Ghz chip and RAID 0. Anyone know why the performance of photoshop has gone like this or how to fix it ?

USE THE DAMN DEFRAGMENTER, that's what's slowing you down, after all those photoshop uses, the comp files scatter so DEFRAGMENT THE COMPUTER... That is all... LOL

Guys, be serious, this problem can't be solved by defragmenting his drive. If you read his post carefully you will notice that he said "everything taking at least a couple of seconds to load whether its opening a menu or selecting a tool... ". Please tell me: If selecting a tool or opening a menu is slow, why should he defrag...duh

Have you tried upgrading to Photoshop 6.01? Its a free update to PS6. It solved a lot of slowdown issues that people were having with 6.0.

Use the link below to update if you haven't already.

Failing that. Remove and reinstall PS6.

You might also consider to reset your preference file; shift+ctrl+alt during start

I get this same problem.

It takes like a 60 seconds just for layer style properties to come up. It used to be lightning fast...not anymore...
