How do I fade a phote from right to left in a banner? I dont really have an example, but its just a 600 wide banner and I want a rectangular image that is right aligned in the banner thats about 200 wide to gracefully fade from the right to the blue background of the banner. Ive tried to do a gradient from the blue to transparent over the image, but it looks crappy. Any help? Thanks Adam |

Well, this is a beginner question in the advanced section, but here's the answer. Go to the layer that you want to fade. On the bottom of the layers palette, there is an icon that is a rectangle with a circle in the middle. Click it. This will add a "layer mask" to that layer. Now use the gradient fill tool. When you select the gradient fill tool, you should notice that the color choices for your fill is a black and white gradient. Click and drag the gradient tool on the layer and you should notice the fading effect. White fades in, and black fades out. You can keep doing this on the layer until you reach the desired fading effect. It will not harm the graphics on the layer that the mask is on. |

Ok, you just need to merge all your layers into one when your happy with how it looks. Then you will have only one layer. You just need to apply a layer mask to that layer. To do that you just click and drag that layer down to the little layer mask icon at the bottom of your layers pallet. Once you've done that, you just select the Gradient tool from your tools palet and use it until you get what you looking for. Hope this helped.
