Convert a word text file to a Apple?

Does anyone know how to convert my text file to Apple?

it's an open source free software that can replace any microsoft office products, you can open microsoft word, so I am assuming that the mac version will do the same as well. It lets you save in bunch of different formats, so you might be able to save in a mac format.

How does this relate to photoshop?

Doesnt relate to ps, but should have been posted in the misc threads. Also I wouldnt consider this a totally dubious question. I had an 'appleworks' file sent to me and I couldnt open it. My roommate who has a g4 didnt know what it was. All I knew was that it was supposed to be a text file =\
