Ok, this is a question that may already been answered many times, so I'll ask it here. When you create a new document you have the option of changing the resolution. If not, it remains at the default "72" setting. My question is, what settings do you, as a user, set for the resolution. It makes sense to me to pick a higher resolution, even for web graphics, because you get more pixels per inch which makes "detailing" a graphic much more successful. In other words, the detail is more defined. I'm asking for all your opinions on this one. Maybe you can tell me why you use the setting that you use. Thanks in advance for any responses! |

72 dpi is what the monitor uses, so there is no point in going higher, unless you´re going to print it.. In printing, I use 300 dpi.

Paavo is right. Monitors are only capable of displaying 72 dpi so anything higher is just wasting bandwidth and server space for web applications. However, if you have specific images on a website that you intend for users to be able to download and print in high quality, 300 dpi is the established standard. Won't look any better on the website, but signifigantly better than 72 dpi when printed out.

72 for web for sure.... but sometimes when I need to clean up an edge (eg) I will increase the resolution and size, but eventually it goes back to the size it supposed to be.
