creating curves

Hello, I was hoping someone out there can give a quick tutorial on how to make curved lines and such. I cannot find a tutorial on this site for it much less anywhere else. I tried to use the pen tool but all I get is a bunch of weird lines whenever i try to drag it to make a curve. HELLPPP!!!!

I hate to be the one to break it to you, Pixlnet, but learning how to use the Pen Tools is a chore all of us face sooner or later. And the sooner you dig in your heels and take the time to learn to use them the better off you'll be. There are certain things that are either impossible or extremely difficult to do using any other tools or methods. In the meantime, try using the Freeform Pen tool, using it to draw like you would with a normal pen. Then, choose the Path Component Selection Tool ("A"...the White Arrow) and work at editing the nodes, or anchor points.
