Hello Everybody, I am new to Photoshop. I am trying to crop an image using elliptical marquee and the crop command. After I select the image using the elliptical marquee, I find the crop command is inactive. What is it I'm missing out on ? I have saved the file in both .psd format and .jpg format. Thanks in advance, MRK |

hi MRK, you don't use a selection tool to crop an image. you need to invoke the crop tool which resides just below the lasso tool on the toolbar. remember, with the crop tool, you can only do a rectangular trim. however, if you want to retain the background after cropping your image elliptically, then just invert your elliptical selection (Shift+Ctrl+I), and click Delete. hope that helps. cheers! gerard |

That's not necessarily true. You can use the rectangular marquee tool to crop with. Make your rectangular selection, then Image>Crop.
