This is a waaaaay shot in the dark.... but here goes... When saving TIFF files, is there any way to override the ability to save for IBM/PC format or the Mac format? I know you can disable the 'Advanced TIFF' options in the Preferences, but I'd like to kill all of the silly questions... after all, has anyone ever seen a difference between a Mac-saved TIFF and PC-saved TIFF? yeah, me neither... just checkin' thanks! gguy |

Yeah, that is a stupid option. It's basically asking you, "Ok, do you want to be able to open this on a PC and a Mac, or just a Mac?" But, no I dont know of any way to disable that. sorry. |

There are several small differences in the PC vs. the Mac Tiff file but since it would be a HUGE post I'll just say: The difference is the byte ordering, Mac's and Windows use reverse byte ordering conventions. You can look that up on google for more info. I was just sitting here thinking.. and I can't think of a way to disable that dialog when saving a tiff file, but if you always save as one or the other it will remember your preference. I generally simple just hit enter twice.... when I save.... and I never see that dialog. As far as taking tiffs from one platform to another... te "Mac TIFF" vs "PC TIFF" issue is handled sensibly by Photoshop on both platforms these days... I do remember when you could open a PC tiff on a Mac but not A Mac tiff on a PC.. but that is a thing of the past. I hope that helps. |

Thanks, I'm working on a Photoshop Action that will do it, but I have no time yet... Hey torn, have you ever noticed any kind of visual difference between a PC vs a Mac TIFF? I thought maybe an icon was saved, but that's a different preference setting.... ? seems pointless to me - Adobe should live in the NOW, dern it... thanks! |
