The issue that I imagine you are running into is this. The images you are designing are currently on a transparent background (the light grey and white checkerboard). You have several options, so here we go... Option 1 - Jpg JPGs do NOT support transparency...When you go to save the image as a .jpg the layers are automatically flattened and white is placed as the default for all transparent pixels. So say you have a dark blue background on your web site, use this color as the background color on your images so white doesnt show up when you go to save it as a jpg. However, one potential issue w/ this is that sometimes jpg compression changes color values slightly on you....IE; Say the background of your web site is #FFCC00 and you make the background of your image to match that jpg compression might change the value to #FFCC01, creating a light seam between your image and the site background. This doesn't always happen...but it is a potential problem. Option 2 - GIF GIF's do support transparency...However, the quality (depending on what type of image it is) can often leave little to be desired. If you have an image on a transparent background and you go to File > Save for web ... Select GIF from the file type drop down menu and make sure the Transparency box is checked. You might want to play around with the dither and palette settings a bit to get the best possible quality / file size. Hope this info helps...Let me know if you have any questions. |

There is a slider to allow you to select the quality of JPGs. The higher the percentage on the slider, the higher quality the image will be, but with a higher file size. With a GIF you are limited to 256 colors, so if you are trying to save a photo as a GIF, it will most likely look bad. GIFs are best for illustrations and most web site graphics, and JPGs are better for photos and complex web graphics with lots of colors, etc. |

No he's not implying that... Anyway..... On to the question.... sadromanticghost: If you will save your Corel file as an .eps you can open the "vector" file in photoshop and you won't have to worry about the poor quality jpg file that Corel gives you. Hope that helps. |
