Silhouette question

How do I make a Silhouette out of... well anything... like mattboy slim's signature a little while ago had a silhouette of a palm tree on top of it, and i wanna know how to do that for things from a picture............... like a person or anything....... any suggestions?

well, basics.... make a selection.... fill it with black.

You can use the pen tool, or channels or whatever to make the selection... but thats about it... make a selection.... fill it with black.

its impossible for me to make a some selection........... it always comes out jagged..... i guess i just suck

Depends on the tool you are using to make the selection...Try the magnetic lasso once and mess with the edge tolerances to get the results you want...Also use selection modifiers if you need to smooth out what you did a bit (Select>Modify>Smooth)...Biggest thing is expirementing w/ different selection methods for different things...Hope that helps.

Oce you filles you selection, unselect, then simply ust he bluur too to soften your silhouette....
