Okay, still learning to use Photoshop to its full ability and need some help here to figure something out...

Got an image from a place that used it to create something, which we are now trying to basically re-create. In the email it stated that "We run the image at 15% to get the ghosted look."

What exactly does this mean ? Should I simply change the opacity to 15% for the look or is there another way to create that look ?

Thanks !
Shawn

I´d guess they mean that it´s just a drop of opacity... Sounds like it.. :|

Okay, I will have to ask...

What does 'blending modes on layers' mean ?

Generally when ghosting an image I use the "curves" adjustment dialog. It just gives a better final product than reducing opacity and inserting a white background layer.

Open the curves dialog (CTR+M)

Now I'm working on an image in the "RGB" color model here in the screencap so ghosting is backwards from doing it in "CMYK" or "GRAYSCALE"... Let me explain.....

See the red arrow pointing to the node at the "bottom left" of the curve? Well, in "RGB" you grab that and drag up "UP" to ghost the photo. In "CMYK" or "GRAYSCALE" you would grab the "upper right" node and drag it "DOWN"

See below example:
