how can i create the effect where the image looks still on a moving backround, you know like the matrix scene where Keanu Reeves is made still while dodging the bullet.

I would just motion blur the background and maybe the edges of your foreground image.

First you have to isolate the image that will remain "still".... The "pen tool" is my weapon of choice most times...although I always check the channels pallet first to see if I can get a good selection from there. Make a -precise- selection around the item/person you want to keep still. With that selection simply hit CTR+J to make a new layer containing "only" the image inside your selection. Next, in the "layers" pallet select the "background" layer. >FILTER>BLUR>MOTION play with the settings..... You'll see where to go from there. |

ok that worked pretty well cosidering my "newbie" status. Now would it be possible to have the backround fan out in all directons away from the "still" image?

Here another recomendation... On you backgound images try replca you subject with you bakgornd (Use the Stam tool) if you dont youmay get some part of you subject blurred around it... this will ruins the effect... You couls also replace the backgound but this could be hard to get a realistic felling... |
