no i mean with shapes, sorry badly worded, how do i NOT fill a shape, i just want the outline!

when it tells me to select all, then click the circle, it just selects the whole canvas! asapsifpifnah2qpi3hnr3qr135

To select the circle and not the whole canvas...Hold down ctrl and click on the layer the circle is on...The circle is on a transparent background right?
