I'm building a site now. I plan to submit it as a portfolio when applying to art school. But my question is should I design for 640x480, or 800x600 as far as pop ups are concerned. What do epople usually design for? Just keep it all under 800x600? thanks |

If I was you I'd do it for 800x600, then again if you really want to impress have the site be resizable so that it looks pretty 1024x786 too. Just a thought.

By I process that I find too time consuming and annoying. Nobody is on 640x480 these days. (Nobody with an internet connection anyway) Space gets very tight when you limit your content to those dimensions.

800x600 or 1024x768 are the two most commonly viewed resolutions according to many of the web statistic sites out there. But it also seems the *type* of site you have should influence the resolution you design for. Like designer's sites, and gaming sites tend to have more people viewing at the higher resolutions. Don't even consider 640x480. The percentage of those users is so insignifigant that you can consider them obsolete. Here's a couple of statstic sites you can look at to help you decide what you think will work best for your application... http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2002/April/res.php http://www.upsdell.com/BrowserNews/stat_trends.htm |
