Realistic EYES wanted. HELP!

Totally new to photoshop. I`m having problems creating a realistic look to an eye ball (the iris area) after changing the color. It just looks like a zombie`s been staring at me. It`s pretty scary!!! Is there a filter, different tool, layer I could use to make it look real?? Thanks to anyone who`ll answer!

use the "hue"-mode, instead of "color", which I´m guessing you´re using?
