I've got an old black and white photo that I need to clean up a bit, and I've scanned it onto my computer. The problem is when I open it up in photoshop it is kind of blurry around the persons face, is there something I can do clear that up alittle bit?

Thanks

Well, yes.... and no.

It kind of depends.

First, If the original image is Blurry..... No

Second, If the original is not but your scan is.... rescan it... see if it's any better.

Third, Post a link to a jpg... and we'll look at it. There are several ways to "fake" detail from old photo's It's really just a matter of which direction would be best for that certain photo.

Ok, I say.... go back and scan it again @ 300 DPI and just scan the part you want of the photo.... you don't need the White border of the photo. The reason I say that is because the scanner is making it's calculations while taking the tones of the border into account. You only want it to use valid information... stuff you are going to use.

That will get you a better scan.

Stay away from saving as a .jpg over and over... it degrades the quality of the image.

I suggest scanning to a .tif file and do you work on that file.

If you'll link me to a good, clean high res file, I'll help you out.
