Here's my issue. I am running PS7 on a PC with windows 2k professional. The program seems to function fine. Then when I close the file that I am working on (without closing out of photoshop), PS7 doesn't release the memory that it was using for that particular file (this can be seen through the processes tab in the windows task manager). The only way that I could get that memory back is to close out of PS7 & re open it. I was woundering if anyone else is having this issue?

yeah that totally sucks. I've been having problems with memory. so I asked some computer nerd friends and they directed me to a program that frees up memory some how.

it's called rambooster. I've been using it for about a week now and haven't had any of those annoying "not enough memory to run this program" messages.

you can set it to an alarm level and it automatically frees up memory when it gets to the alarm level.

Don't know the website but just do a search for 'RamBooster' and you should find it.

Thanks for the RAMbooster tip. I tried it but it still didn't release the memory. The only way that has worked so far is to close down Photoshop & relaunch it.

it's worked for me.

try setting your target level of free ram higher. and your alarm level higher. Do that in the edit preferences.

If that doesn't work then sorry. must be some other problem.

you might want to try stopping some programs from starting when you start your comp.

you know when you press ctrl-alt-del and see all those programs running? they take up ram and most are useless things that came with your other downloaded programs.

you can find a list of all those things here:

hope this helps.
