Download from digital camera as jpeg. Burned them on CD. renamed them as tiff. Later removed pictures from computer to free up space. Took CD out now & tranfer them camera program ok. However if I try to open in Photoshop told it is not a tiff file. Also will transfer to documents (on main screen) but in photoshop when I open documents to bring it in, it is not listed. Have tried today with current pictures saved as jpeg, tiff, & photoshop and after burned onto cd, it will not reopen in Photoshop. What am I doing wrong. Pictures are burned on the cd and can go into film factory but not this program. Thanks Julie

I dunno maybe try copying the files on to your harddrive even though that shouldn't matter because I have some psd files on a cd that I use :\ |

Did you just "rename" them to tif files.... or did you "save" them as tif files? If they are actually .jpg files to which you have appended a .tif extension then photoshop will give you that error. Also I've had problems brfore when restoring things from CD back-ups with the files being "read only" when restored to the hard drive. |

I get that all the time when saving images. They appear as 'Read Only', but resaving them to the hard drive fixes that. My question is why do you need to save the jpg's as tiffs? Might not be necessary. If you tweak them in ps then dont resave them as jpg's until you are ready to put them on the web. You'd only need to save them as tiff's if you plan to print them or maybe store them for other programs. |

I've run into problems like that through my CD burning software - are you using DirectCD or Easy CD creator? or are you on a mac with Toast? some give you an option of saving with extensions on or off (JOLIET, I believe is the term) - this always gives me headaches... good luck |
