Using this tutorial I get an error every time I "Once the selection is active you need to hit your delete key (Don't deselect yet)." The error I get is "Could not complete your request because the content of the layer is not directly editable." Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

make sure you are on an active layer and not an empty one or the background layer...

I appreciate the help but am completely lost trying to get this to work. Is there anyway I can post a screenshot? I'm not on the background layer and as far as I know it is not locked either. I "rasterized" the layer and deleted it, but that did not give the desired effect as in the tutorial.

Press the print screen key on your keyboard, open a new document, paste, and crop the area. then upload it to a webhost and link it to us.

Ok...here is a link to a screenie of my error. I'm not sure if this will help at all but it is worth a shot. Error And by the way, another problem I'm having is centering my layers using the way described in this tutorial. Here is the error I'm getting for this one. Error 1 Thanks again for your patience with me as I'm very new at this...obviously. Up until now my art consisted of paper, pen, pencils, ink, brayers, and all the physical stuff not this digital media. Anyone know of a good "stylus" like tool if you will for drawing freehand, as opposed to using the mouse? |

Can you post the tutorial please? I'm not really following you. Are you sure you're supposed to Create a New Shape Mask or a Filled region (either of the two in the red boxes)? Oh and for the second error, you have the Background layer selected. WAIT. I think I know what you're trying to do. The first circle should be created by selecting the right-most button on the options bar (see image above). Then the second circle is created the same way, in a new layer, so that it's smaller in size. You would then center both of them. Select the layer with the larger circle, then Ctrl+click the layer with the smaller circle. This will create a selection area that selects the outline of the smaller circle. While still in the large circle layer, press the Del key so that the inner region is cleared. Then just delete the layer with the smaller circle, leaving you with the ring. I hope this would help. |

Thanks! I can now create the circles and delete them with no problem. The "right most box above" it what I needed to have selected like you said. Now I'm still having problems centering everything. You are right about me having the background layer selected but when I select either of the other two layers it won't let me "align linked". And one layer is linked, the background is linked and the other layer is visible, as far as the icons go. I don't know how to have the other layer be linked without selecting the background. |

Thanks again for all your help. Nevermind the last problem, I figured it out.
