Hi All

Is it possible that I can rename the displayed name of a filter developed by a 3rd party that found under Filter in photoshop? Exmple: Changing the name of KPT to MyKPT? If so, How?

Thanks in advance.

Well, still there's no way of renaming them. You'll just have to live with it.

Yeeeeeeasss!!!! I just have done it myself!!!! WOW!!! I am so excited!!!

So, you think it’s a NO answer!!!!! Yes, I don’t believe myself!!!

You need HOW TO, right? Ok.. ok.

First of all, you need to know assembly language OR (good there is an OR here), you could have any good HEX editor (real HEX). You open (hack) the filter using the HEX editor. You need to find the name that appears in your host application. Example: If you are using KPT, then KPT is the name where you need to look for in the HEX table. You have to be very careful when you change the name. Don’t exceed the number of letters your filter name has if it is more than 8 chars!!! You may ask me why? The answer is, because you might over write the start of another register. Myself, I used the debug from the DOS prompt. I am a computer science major, so don’t play with the DEBUG command unless you know what you are doing. Your PC might not start again!!! But, I do recommend that you use a HEX editor to just do that with ease. Make sure you have a backup of the filter before you start.

Any questions? I will be glad to help.

:D
