applying an image to text

im not very good at photoshop. anyways i just wanted to know how to apply an image to text. i made the lightning image and i want to apply it to text.. thanks for helping a n00b out

there are a bunch of different ways to do that. The easiest is to put your text on it's own layer. Put the lightning (or whatever) on a layer directly on top of your text. Be sure you're active on your image layer, then push ctl/option "G." to group the two layers.
that way, you can still edit your text, too, If you so desire.
