Hi All, I just have a quick question about editing action's on the PC version of Photoshop 6.0. I've just created a really big action to batch allot of images. Part of the action apples a centrally stored masks and saves the images out to a specified location on a server. The action also has a component that make's the canvas size larger. I was originally briefed that the canvas would need to be 210 x 160 px but this has just changed to 210 x 170 px :( Is there a way of editing this part of the action? Also, what if I have to import/export the files to another location. Can I easily edit the export path? Maybe I'm just being lazy but the action is really big and it seems pretty crazy that you have to re-record actions every time you make a minor change. If anyone can shed any light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Rich |

Editing actions can sometimes be a pain in the ass. But for what you need, do the following: 1) Open up an example image of what you typically run the action on. 2) Open your action palette, select your batch action and expand it so you can see each of the steps. 3) Click the checkmark in front of the step which expands the canvas size, this will remove that step from the action when it is run. 4) Click on the name of that step, it should be highlighted blue. 5) Click the record button in the action palette (the black circle). 6) Go to the image you've opened up, and do your new expand command (Image>Canvas Size>210x170), click OK. Your new expand should appear as a step in the action right above the step you just eliminated. 7) Click the Stop button in the actions palette (the black square). Now your action should be ready to run with the new canvas size. If you ever need to switch between sizes, you can just alternate between the two by activating one or the other with the checkmarks. Hope this helps, and good luck. |
