newbie question: could anybody me explain to me how I would go about doing this? I have a photo of a house surrounded by mega trees. I want to paint the house a different color without painting the trees that same color (because they're in front of the house mainly). I know how to save selections (channels) and load them back into my image. But what I cannot grasp is the tree part. Do I have to select all the individual leaves on the trees first (seems like an impossible task) or what? Thank you I'm so frustrated!! I'd appreciate any help.

well, if your house is a very different color than anything else, you could consider using the Color-selection... (select - colorRange)..

Maybe i didnĀ“t understand the question that well....

The thing is, the house is a light beige and I want to change it to a blueish color. If I paint the house (experimenting with different blending modes), the trees in front of it get colored too. I don't want that. What I did was use my wand to select the parts of the trees that covered the front of the house, saved that as a channel. When I loaded my house selections, I subtracted the trees channel and colored away. But now the leaves of the trees really don't look as natural anymore for some reason.
Am I making sense? LOL! Sorry - I'm so new to this and probably just so frustrated right now. But I do recall something about duplicating layers, erasing on that layer and then painting it - then merging the layers. But I'm lost because that doesn't work for me as well. Oh dear!
