Hi, I'm running into troubles with Curved text in 6.1 It keeps telling me Could not complete your request because the type layer uses a faux bold style I understand that this is a limitation of the feature, but the problem remains that out of the 100 fonts on my computer I cannot find a SINGLE font that doesn't bring up this message. I've tried turning anti-aliasing off and picking fonts that don't have the style options but it doesn't seem to fix it. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or where I can find fonts that will work? Thanks! :D SithVixen |

If you look at your Character Palette you'll see a little triangle at the upper-right corner. Click on that to drop an options menu. You will see that "Faux Bold" has a check mark beside it. UNcheck that, or slide down to the bottom of the menu for a full character reset. The Warp Text features will then be available for your use. Further explanation: "Faux" is a French word for fake, or false. It's how Photoshop is able to "fatten up" a font that doesn't have a true Bold instance. An "Instance" of a font is a variation that is specifically designed from the original to be Italic, Bold, Heavy, Light, Black, Condensed or Extended. Photoshop can fake an Italic or Bold, but it's NOT a true instance of the original font face. Sooooo, with the current version of Photoshop, it can't do a fake variation AND warp the text at the same time. Perhaps that will change in a future version (does anyone know if this is different in Photoshop 7.x?). |
