I was checking out some of the work on rhythmictwelve.com and came across this http://www.rhythmictwelve.com/work/8.jpg
I've been trying and trying to achive a simliar effect for a couple of hours the other day but can't get very close at all.

Any ideas on how it was made?

well im guessing its just paint brush, its cool looking but simple, the creater prob did it 100% on the comp, but if i was to go with this style i would go the hard way, im a orginal artist, so i would take a peice of news print and cover it in charcoal and the take a whitey earaser and cut away at it and bring out the diff. values, then scan it in and edit and touch and tweak it in photoshop, also i could prob. do it easly in "Painter 7"

bah.

here is an idea.

1 - camera, prefereably analogue.

2 - blacked out room/black clothing to match.

3 - small little lights you can hold in your hands and attatch to your clothing in other places.

4 - some cool music to move to.

5 - long exposure time on your camera's film.

6 - no rythm what-so-ever. dance like a whiteboy smoking crack for the first time.

but not relying on a filter to do all the work for you would be more "original".

Oh wait...nevermind.

Axiom that dance idea is a great idea =) put on some ghetto house music with some trance influence and dance the night away.....errr

and i dont use 3rd party filters, i think there evil, i use the basic native filter that come with every photo paint program i own, and the rest i do by hand or with some real art and a digital camera....

you have any art talent? cus if ya do then doing the charcoal thing ant hard, just a annoying waste of time, what OS you on? if your on PC i dont think Painter 7 is for it, but if your on a mac and on OSX then GET! "painter 7" it is a great program, but i may be wrong it may be for PC to, but i doubt it....

maybe when i get some time ill try to make that style and make a tut. but will see if i ever get any goddamn time around here =(......sorry i needed to vent...well then.....errr
