making a grid...

I want to add a grid type pattern to the background of an image I am working on... how would i go about doing this?

Make a new 10 pixel by 10 pixel image. Fastest way is to blow it up big with navigator/zoom. Use your pencil tool to draw a black box using the outer pixels. Then Edit->Define Pattern, and save it.

Make a new layer in your image and then Edit->Fill with the pattern you just saved. Put the layer opacity down and use a blending mode.. usually multiply, screen or overlay.
