spikes

Ok, I know how to make spikes, but how could I make them so it looks like im looking at the point. Like theya re coming out of the ground and im looking down on them?

Look down from the tip of a pencil. I'm not sure if you want the spike to be straign up and down, like you are looking a the tip of it, or if you want to see if from a bit of an angle so that you can tell it is a spike.

If you want to see if straight down, make a circle on a new layer, then double-click that layer to open your layer styles. Select "Gradent Overlay". Then in the STYLE drop-down box, select "ANGLE". Then make a new layer below that layer, and then merge the 2 layers to rasterize that layer style. Then you can blur the sharp black edge so that it feels like more of a shadow than a straight line.
