i wanna know, what is the difference between high resolution and low with the dpi when you create a new docutment in photoshop.

the default is 72.

can anyone explain what the difference between high and low dpi? and tell me why each might benifit me. thanx

72 dpi is screen resolution, thats what your monitor is at, so doing web graphics, you only need to use 72dpi..


higher dpi's are for printing, 300, 600, and higher are normally used for printing images..

if you set it to a high dpi to do web graphics, or just graphics in general, not printing, you could make the graphic in more detail correct?

yeah, up to a point, but you also make the image much larger..

the most Iwould recomend is 144 dpi if you only intend to use it for graphics..

okay, what I wanted to say was....

it makes the image size in much larger, makes for a larger download, etc..
