Which format is best to save images in? I use BMP since that is uncompressed colors and it;s 24bit, even thogh my friend says that BMP sucks and TIFF is better, I totally disagree. So which one do you think is the best format? |

I just leave all mine as PSD files... if I have to send it to someone else I usually use TIFF. If it's not for the web anyway.

Save all original artwork in PSD format before saving it as something else. Saving as a PSD will save all your hard work, layers, text, etc. without rasterizing and flattening the image. THEN do another save and save the image in another format. My personal choice for RGB images is PNG-24 if you are only going to be displaying the graphic on a monitor. PNG supports full transparency and has a lossless compression scheme which saves files even smaller than BMP or TIFF could wish to save as. It also has the added benefit of being one of the few image formats to not have any gamma (color/brightness) issues between pcs and macs, so the image "should" look the same across all computers. |
