Hi. I was just wondering if any of you know why CMYK looks like a heap of crap on the net, and sometime doesn't even load? I usually use RGB, but i was just checking CMYK out, i havent a clue with colour stuff  |

Wha? I don't even know if CMYK based images can even load through a web-browser. RGB is the internet/monitor/non-print standard. CMYK should never be used if the graphic isn't intended for print. If you actually manaaged to get a graphic in CMYK format to load through a web-browser, that's the reason it looks like crap. Its not for use online whatsoever. |

YEp, the fudged Cracker said about everything... except... WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO USE CMYK IMAGES ON THE WEB FOR?.... LOL :D C = Cyan M = Magenta Y = Yellow K = Black Is used in a printing process, known as "Process Color", the inks are semi transparent allowing you to see mixtures of the colors as they are overprinting each other. Yellow and cyan (blue) make GREEN!.... Magenta (red) and Cyan make PURPLE!.... ALL of them at 100% make Black!.... (an ugly brown'ish looking black.... but black none the less) That isn't how monitors work.... they use RGB.... Full values of ALL 3 make WHITE!.... see the difference? I hope that explains it a little. |

Heheheh. Exactly. When doing net based images. Stick only to grayscale, RGB, or Lab mode color and then do a save for web. Doing work in CMYK and trying to save the image for web will almost always result in a dramatic color shift to the entire image because color is handled exactly the opposite in RGB as it is in CMYK, as Torn already put it. |

That explains a lot. I knew CMYK was not for printing, but didn't know if it was for web! Yeah i was able to upload an image in CMYK but wasn't able to view it using IE, but netcace did show it, lots of lines! Thanks for that. I've learned something new today |

here that cyan? you're USELESS btw thats because RGB represents light color and CMYK represents ink colors. if you mix every color light, you get white light, but as we all know, when you mix all your markers, you get an ugly brown/black color ;) |
