my boyfriend recently took snapshots of our dog, then opened the camera before rewinding the film (duh!) and one of the nicest shots now has a gradually fading red cast on the left side only. This isn't exactly an important project but I became interested in finding a way to remove the red haze. So far I've been utterly unsuccessful with everything I tried (since it's only a partial cast, curves adjustments don't work). Does anyone know how to do this or have some suggestions for me?

what you are trying to do isn't going to happen at the push of a button or the tweaking of a curve, alone. You'll have to make selections and handle it a small part at a time. You said it was a "gradually fading red cast " so applying "one" thing to the overall photo is going to over do it in places, and under do it in others.

Could you post the image?
If you post a high quality version of it.... I'll look at it..and I bet several others will too.

I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure how to post a picture (and I don't have a website I could link to). I've tried selections with rather pitiful results. I am now thinking of creating an adjustment layer with a color gradient to sort of "filter" the red out, do you think that could work? And how do I determine exactly which color complements this exact shade of red? Any ideas? I will also post picture if there's a way to do it.

You can set up a yahoo acount... there are alot of people on here making yahoo accounts so the can upload photos and other images there.

A gradient overlay could work... IF you could make it match the gradiation of the exposure of the print.

Without actually seeing the image... I'm only guessing. You could be fighting a losing battle for all I know.

You can email it to me if you like and I'll host it for the masses to see. c@cbutts.com

Not an ironic remark, but a "appriciating" (spellcheck) one.

I tend to be so glad, happy and my believe in the humans return for a minute when I see this kind of helpfulness among people.

tornupinside, You're my man. Very helpful indeed. I salute You.

Think I have to stop going to Antionline.com where the attitude is rather..."I'll help you, but only if you understand what I'm writing..." In opposite to this pure..."Show me, an' I'll help you..."
