Hi, I was wondering if, when working in full screen mode, there was a way to change the background color from what seems to default to black. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot.

you can switch it to a "gray" background....just start hitting the "F" key.... you'll see.

By enlarging the document window so it's larger than the working area, so you expose the default gray background (R=192, G=192, B=192 is the default, which you'll likely want to change it back to, eventually), you can change this color by SHIFT-Clicking with the Paint Bucket Tool. That'll dump your foreground color into the gray area.

If you hit the "F" key twice, you'll be in full screen mode, and the background surround of your working area will be black. This can not be changed.

I strongly caution against using anything but gray, because any non-neutral color surrounding your image will have an effect on how you perceive the colors within the image. Plus, it'll make your eyes and retinal color receptors "tired" so that all colors, onscreen and off, won't look correct.

I hate it when my retinal color receptors get tired.... that's the worst...

My eyes hurt after being at work all day though. The monitors there are like 10 years old. My eyes get tired and hurt. Like eye strain. I also feel dizzy all the time, and if I turn my head quickly, it looks like my vision is lagging behind and blurs. I have the brightness turned almost all the way black just so I can stand to look at the stupid thing. It really sucks. Good quality monitors are very important!

Thanks a lot utopian! Thats exactly what I was wondering. I do like to use gray, but sometimes when making things for a white website or whatever, I would like tochange it.

My vision is also going from staring at monitors all day, here at work, and at home... but... meh. I guess thats what that new fangled laser surgery is for eh? I hope it don't come to that!

Thanks again utopian!

I never have problems when staring at my home monitor. Because it is very nice. It's just this crappy work monitor that kills me!
