Be gentle with me!

Hi, first time here, completely new to Photoshop6.
Just tried a couple of the tutorials on "Making Metallic Text" and "Aqua Gel Text". I can't see where it says which version, I assume it must be 5.5. For instance in both texts it says go to Layer, Type, Render. Render does not appear in 6. (At least not there) Is there a workaround? Are the majority for 5.5, does it say somewhere? Trying to save myself time, I've just wasted an hour trying to resolve this!:( :o

The 6.0 term is "Rasterize"
