tool for making flames

Im wondering what tool I need to create a logo with flames in the background very similar to pixelsurgeon.com Can I please get some help!

The pen tool can do curves like that.

You could use the ellipitical marquee to make shapes like that too.

Make an elipse, rotate, cut out a piece, make another ellipse, join it to the first, cut out some more pieces. osv..

the best way to make flames is by making a circular gradient (white circle to black), and then use the smudge tool I think, and brush it out, then duplicate change hue, play with blending, and there you got ur fire. Saw this on a tutorial so I didn't think of it, but I got it down really good.
