How to get this cool tech look?

on the web people use these cool tech look like this:

How do they do it ???

I know some use some kind of 3d prog, like 3d max, but just cant seem find any tuts that tell me how.. Just need a push in the right direction.. can any plz help?

For those techy shapes at InfinityCubed, Colin does his stuff using 3d max and bring them over into photoshop and use tech brushes, etc....

Most of the tools he uses can be found at the resources section of Elements

It should be the same case as DreamInfinity
