Weirdest thing here. The "color dodge" blending mode doesn't work for me anymore. IT basically has no effect on the layer and I'm pretty sure it used to before. I was trying out a tutorial, and noticed that the image I was supposed to have and was getting was very different. I'm using PS 6.01...any ideas...I'm pretty sure I'm doing something stupid here. |

NO your not - it is different Photoshop 6 uses different math to create Dodge and Burn than version 5 did ! so a lot of tutorials which no-one has bothered to update won't work the same in version 6. Is there a solution? as with everything in Photoshop —yes, just takes a little work around - use the advanced blending slider to control the opacity (never use the main opacity slider) and fill the layers "behind" with black or white (black for dodge and white for burn) This created a lot of problems for a lot of people. Word on street is SHHHH...Version 7 is going to have some new blend modes - such as Linear dodge and Linear Burn - but thats just a rumour at the moment. Some beta tester is about to lose his nice little earner I think! Never mind -hopefully these will be replacements for the good old version 5 dodge and burn |

Whew! Thanks for the info. I would have never known. I wonder why Adobe screwed up these two blending modes. Oh well, at least u can get around it. |

I honestly hope that the next upgrade to Photoshop is only additions, NOT alterations again. I had to re-adjust a lot to PS6. I only wish that layer blending modes aren't changed again, and that these are put in as addition-only. |

You mean Numerical Transform - and its still there; just all the co-orinates are now in the options bar when you call up Free Transform. Numerical Transform like a lot of things is better in 6 than in 5 |

I hope that in the next PS they'll have a savable history file. So that when you open the .psd the history that you were working on before would also come up. That would be helpful.
