A shape was made with the polygonal lasso tool and filled in with a color. Then that shape was beveled. Then a selection was made inside the shape with the rectangular marquee and deleted from the shape. While the rectangle was still selected a new layer was made and filled with a different shade of color. then the opacity of that layer was dropped to where you could see through it.
