I am not an expert on Photoshop, so please bare with me if this sounds dumb :D I have been downloading some fonts, and I put the .ttf files in the windows fonts directory... but they do not appear on the fonts list inside Photoshop 6. They were all Windows TrueType fonts. Can someone please tell me how I get these fonts to display inside Photoshop? :( It's very frustrating  |

*chuckles and smacks Matt* Ignore him Did you install them correctly? Half the time the fonts won't work unless i go through the control panel (Start>Settings>Control Panel>Fonts) |

You should really look into a font utillity like "adobe type manager" (ATM). It's free from the adobe site and it will save you some heartache associated with fonts. I think what Matt was saying is... Did you restart Photoshop after installing the fonts? Did you restart Windows after installing the fonts? On another note, I have downloaded some fonts from the net that just simply aren't formatted correctly. The thing about the net is, You don't know if the font was created by an experienced fontographer... or someone that found a program and said... "I can do this". |

I agree torn. I just installed some fonts tonight and you will need to restart photoshop. If they doesnt work then restart your computer. Also You can do some dos attribs that will reset your fonts and sometimes that will make them show up. tweak Ul has a setting to rebuild all fonts and that will help too. |

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts ^^ Axiom likes to keep his fonts there. I dont like having my downloaded fonts in the OS font directory. Anytime I do a fresh install or backup, I like to be able to back up specific folders and leave the system folder out of it mainly because the system folder can be taken from a cd. |

I never have to restart photoshop... I just unzip them to the fonts directory in windows, then go to control panel > fonts, and they are installed automatically. Then I switch back to photoshop and they are there. I'm using Win2k though. So maybe it didn't do that in 98. I don't remember. |

Yes, I was being entirely serious except for the ELSE statement, that was thrown in for a bit of sarcasm and for further comment if you HAD done the 1st 2 things I mentioned and it still didn't work. I was just there to get you started....and you never did say whether it worked or not. I take from you lack of comment that it did. And yes, like Deker said, Windows 2K and Windows XP install the fonts as soon as you copy/move them to the system fonts folder, I don't remember if Windows 98 does or not. |
