3D Mettalic globes

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to create some 3D metallic looking globes or objects to use for web design. I know photoshop 6 pretty well but can't figure it out. I also have illustator if I need that to help creat my desired image.

I guess the tutorial on this page : http://www.stridingstudio.com/tutorials/gchrome.html can give you the desired effect. Just replace the letter with the image of our choice. The of course, there has to be some manipulations with making the sphere look 3d. But that is others to fill in.....
