Is their any 3rd party app out their that allows color to be quickly picked from ANY window? Right now, I have to the copy and paste the image and open it in photoshop to find out a particular color i want.

I would rather have it that if I see a color i like on a website or some other sindow, i could just copy it right their.

Also, what plug-ins, if any, do you all suggest would be a nice addition to PS6?

Thanks

This is what I use, and it is the best I've found. It zooms in so you can select just the right pixel, plus it gives you the color in Hex, RGB, CMYK, and more. Very handy.

I'm not sure I'd give any plugin the vaunted status of "must—have", but there are a few I use quite often because they save me time or do things nothing else can.

Specifically:
KPT3 package
•Gradient Designer—Much more robust than Photoshop's native gradient builder.

KPT5 package
•ShapeShifter—For multisource quasi 3D lighting, texturing and contouring.
•Smoothie—for softening sharp and/or uneven edges and edge lines...better and more intuitive than "Levels".

Extensis Photographics—This little gem has kept me from upgrading Mac OS beyond 9.0.4 because it's not supported in newer verions of the Mac OS. It does a great job of vector text on a path while allowing you to see the layer(s) beneath it. Much easier than importing an image into Illustrator, doing your text-on-a-path, then moving thatback into your Photoshop document. Check to see if it's supported on whichever OS you're using....it's a beauty. I never say this....steal it if you must, until Photoshop offers this feature natively.

XaosTools
•Terrazzo—one of the best automatic tiling plugins available. It offers 17 reflection algorithms, feathering and internal blending options. Allows you to apply the tile to your present image or to save the tile as a separate document to be used elsewhere.
•PaintAlchemy—An amazingly complex plugin that will automatically apply an infinite variety of virtual brush strokes to your image. You control the shape of the brush (by choosing a small grayscale image or creating your own), the density, size, direction and color of the strokes, and each of these algorithms offer several adjustable parameters. Pretty amazing.

FlamingPear's SuperBladePro—at about US$40, this is the best bang-for-a-buck shareware plugin I've ever seen. It's the first one I ever found worth paying for, and I've been using the latest versions since I first bought it in 1997 or 1998.

That's about it for me.

I'm sort of a 3rd party plugin junkie. Here's my dirt:

I recommend XENOFEX from Alien Skin Software. Groovy special effects. never seems to get old. I'd give it a "must - have." Hell, I even got the t-shirt! (yep, I'm a geek.)

Eye Candy 4000 is also a good addition. Most of these can be done in photoshop, but I like it anyway. The new drip filter is really smooth.

Auto FX DreamSuite came out recently, too. I dig the effects and stuff, but it works like *poo poo* on my Mac. Plus it takes up a bunch of memory to run it. - Oh, and it's the most expensive plug out there, too. My company bought it - I wouldn't personally fork out the 4 hunny for it.

my advice - download a ton of trials and see what ones will come in handy for you and your workflow.
