whoa, just read that lecture to VI3TTANY15, hope I dont become a pain in the ass like that since I'm still pretty new at this. ok, my question is: I made a small enter page on photoshop and uploaded it and everything. Looked great but I dont like the extra time it takes to add the "background spacers" (the big chunks of black background that go inbetween images and stuff) Is there a way I can eliminate that by making photoshop use just tables or divs to create thos spaces and place everything where I want it? I hope I phrased that question right or I'll be back :/ |

I'm assuming you're using slices and chopping up your webpages so that most of the graphics stay as separate images on the page, correct? A slice is a table, but to decrease the amount of size your page takes up, either select the black or blank slices that have no images in them and go to the optimization settings. There you can choose to make that slice a 2 color GIF. Doing that will make large chunks of empty graphics down to less than 1KB in size. Though you can also open up this .html you created in an .html editor, such as Dreamweaver or Golive and delete these empty GIF placeholders. After doing that, you can fill the table with a color and save even more space. Not sure if this is clear enough for you, but this should get you going in the right direction. |
