Background Layer

How do I unlock my background layer? It is not allowing me to use crop tool because it's locked....how do I unlock it?

RIGHT CLICK the background layer.
dropdown menu >select layer from background

but when I do that and try to crop image, it drags the whole layer off the page. I've been in photoshop for yrs and never had this happen. Now, every single image I open, is locked.

are you sure you are using croptool and not move tool?

Man, oh man..........do I ever have junk on my face!!! :rolleyes: Geeze.......I have been doing freelance photography for over 10 yrs and using PS for prolly 8. And I have NEVER done such a stupid thing before. Yes, IDad, I did have the move tool and never even so much as realized it until you responded. Cannot believe I did that.
BUT..........thank you so much for making me get my head out of my a.. and realize I need to start paying attention to the small things. Had a deadline and freaked out because I couldn't figure out my problem....when it was right in front of me the whole time!!:rolleyes:
